GROUND mounted details
The ground mounted chiller installation is preferable over installing
the chiller on the roof. This is mainly due to the stress on the roof and
related engineering involved. As a rule, installing the chiller on the
ground will cost the end-user 10% to 15% less to install overall. It is
also recommended that the end-user enclose the chiller to prevent
potential vandalism. If the end-user chooses to install such an enclosure,
care must be taken not to restrict airflow around the chiller.

ROOF mounted details
It may be necessary to mount the chiller on the roof when property
lines or parking spaces are an impediment to a ground mounted
installation. If the end-user is leasing the space, it is highly
recommended that permission be obtained from the building owner to perform
a roof mounted installation. We further recommend consulting with a
qualified structural engineer early in the planning stage to determine if
a roof mounted installation is structurally feasible. NOTE: If the
end-user or building owner has "as-build" structural drawings (S-DRAWINGS)
for the building available, this could save as much as $1,500.00 in
engineering costs.
